Quansol Mitre System FAQ
How many Saw Guides are required?
The Quansol Mitre System has 12 insert housings (4 housing slots for each angle 22.5, 45 & 90 degree). As some angles are used more often than others the Quansol Inserts are designed to be interchangable, enableing the operator to shift the inserts around should some wear faster than others.
Are there different size Saw Guides for different Blades/saws?
No, there is just one size insert. The Inserts are designed for use with either a hacksaw or fine toothed wood Saw. Simply calibrate each set of inserts to the thickness of your saw blade by running your saw through the guides a few times prior to use. For best results it is a good idea to have a set of inserts for each different type of saw you use.
How long should the Saw Guides last?
Life expectancy can vary depending on type of saw being used and the level of accuracy required. However Quansol Saw Guides are made from a very high quality Nylon/Glass material to assist in saw resistance, and should provide dozens of perfect mitres. Tilers and Carpet Layers currently using the Quansol are reporting well over 80-100 mitres per insert, and they are still going strong!!
Are there Specific directions for using the Quansol?
Yes, it is very important that you carefully read & follow the 'Tips & Operating Instructions'as there are different recommended methods of use depending on what you are cutting. For example some Tile Trims require a different clamping technique.
How strong are the clamps?
The clamps have been measured at being able to apply 10 - 15kgs of clmaping force (far more than required). For best results clamps must only be applyed to the force required to sufficiently hold your work and no more. Applying too much force may push the back wall of the Quansol out of square effecting accuracy of mitre. For more info read 'Tips & Operating Instructions'

What maintenance is required?
Cutting will leave filings behind that can clog and effect the smooth operation if left to build up. It is very important that you brush down after each use, especially when cutting metal as these filings could (if left) get in under the clamps and wear on the mechanism.
